Above and Below

Underneath man's driving need
Lie sex, and politics, and greed,
Controlling the vices found behind
The weakening of the human mind.
The origins of this quest for power
Are but vain attempts to stay the hour
Which looms above all mortal heads,
That every man, in some way, dreads:
When last he draws his final breath
To begin the life we've labeled "death".

At Penuel

Face to face
Blinding light
Sacred place
Holy night

Desert wall
Lillies white
Cedars tall
Rest and flight

All things new
No more blight
Morning dew
Son shine bright

Waiting done
And the fight
We have won
Back our right

Man is free
Given sight
He can see
Ephod white

Love is King
Man of might
Signet ring
Seal two tight

Babylon

Curious creature giggles in darkness
Sinister angel created by dreams
Irresistible moonlit seductress
Icy laughter undoing heaven's seams

Destroying Babylon standing below
Casting shadows, wreaking mortal heart rift
Enters as lover but exits as foe
Catching the tail of a skyward smoke drift

Circles

There,

Where

The soul of origination
Leads to heartbeat

And memory spirals past
Future circles complete

Destination and purpose
At last, will meet!

Combustion

Treasured friendship
Suddenly combusts
Like an ember
Ignited
by the wind's breath

Where once glowed
The warmth
and comfort
Of coals
Now blazes a flame
Of such
perfection
And beauty
It scorches all
who come too near,
uninvited

Crone

when i think of the elder goddess
i think of all that is cozy and warm and deep

the epitome
the culmination
of all she has lived
and loved
and hated
and hoped

this is sweet autumn fruit!
not easily-bruised spring fruit
or thick-skinned summer fruit

Deception

Simple untruths
Told for complicated reasons
Can never be persuaded
Back into the nothingness
From which they came

The only redemption
Is revelation and acknowledgement
Which is the soul's regretful
Declaration of humanity

Electra's Garden

The Garden of Eden
The Wilderness forsaken:

Two lovers entwined together
Ringed around by the serpentine hedge
The fire within and the cold without
All three upon a precipitous ledge....

And three are one...
and the one are three...
and all of them are both you and me!!

France

Strawberry fields in eastern France
Even survived the war
S.
warS.
trenches tanks tunnels
mud and dirt and death

we all survived the war
S.
warS.
Our WarS. killed us all
All of us killed all us

today is not That Day
that day is Over
but everything that comes
Comes Again

coming again does not
always come the same
S.omtimes it goes.
go

Icarus's Garden

From what beginnings is such chaos made
In the midst of idyllic paradise
Which crushes seeds of hope carefully laid
Once the sun finally conquers the ice

Jealousy grown to envy madly blooms
Amidst the poison of the weed called hate
Dark sky above, as an empty soul looms
Over the product of misguided fate

Friendship and comrades both lose this fight
When the lonely garden succumbs to blight

Jesus and the Buddha

Jesus and the Buddha
Standing hand in hand
Both bringing rays of hope
To all foreign lands
Humbly teaching truth,
Charity, peace, and wisdom
Meant for each of us
No matter where we're from
So why can't the leaders
Of this confused world
See there is no need
For the stones that we all hurl?

Jonah

Wicked seeds seek for a sign
Worm and blight, withered vine
Cruel sun blasting on their head
Without love, the wind is dead

But anger is not heaven's way
God sent love to save the day
Shining Son on cursed tree
Broken hearted slaves set free

Judgment

You judges and evangelists
And all you wall street bankers, too
Hypocrites avoiding mirrors
Toilet paper stuck to your shoe

Don't think you are obliged to judge
The acts and thoughts of another
When you haven't examined self
Don't place labels on your brother

Justice (a.k.a. JUST US...)

Just Us...
...we are the only justice in this broken dream of freedom

Just Us...
...with impunity and malice, devising rules by greed, not wisdom

Just Us...
...blindly seeing just one side, with no eyes for what is real

Just Us...
...denial of those outside, left alone to reason and feel

Just Us...
...living in a false world of order, enforcing laws with hidden fear

Just Us...
...unable to cry "No Quarter" and admit the truth so crystal clear

Just Us...
...choices made with money, no thought for those without option

Just Us...
...unknowing of the sad funny lives many bear without question

Just Us...
...no rest for the wicked and weary, sparing no deed, good or bad

Just Us...
...suspicious and leery of pleasures we have not had

Just Us...
...self-chosen and righteous, ruling our own delusional peace

Just Us...
...to admit error is tortuous, for fear our comforts might cease

juxtaposition

all life is sacred
all divisions are man-made

life is death is life

so
virtue is bad is good is evil
and
right is often wrong

truth be known
all good sons fall from the start

freedom will only take flight
when unity raises

a flaming Phoenix
from the ashes of duality and schism

Madame Fortune

One day Fortune wears a kindly smile
But the next she hideously frowns
And the Fates that do her bidding
Are no more than mechanical clowns

Look deep into Destiny's glass
Are you fooled by her illusion?
Lady Luck's movement of the present
Holds no sway on the conclusion

Megiddo

Three times at Megiddo ought to be enough
Three transfigurations; heavy-duty stuff
Saints are marching in to call this blind-man's bluff

Put away your 'armistice' and false-born pride
Cast away the fear from which you seek to hide
Look no more to borders; time to look inside

You are not alone, not even in your mind
Freedom's easy path is one so hard to find
Choosing self over righteousness means walking blind

Can you face the fact that we are all the same?
Will you agree to disagree? Cease to blame?
Life's course here on Earth has naught to do with shame.

Moonflight

Amid the jangle of the teeming turmoil,
From the midnight depths of ocean gardens-
To heights that diabolism cannot spoil,
I watch as night falls, when darkness hardens
The softness cast by shadow's pewter glow.

My desire to fly sends invocation
To the ethereal lunatic Queen.
Ignitable in my supplication,
I cut my tepid bond with earthly scene,
Leaving man and his troubles far below.

Mourning Glory

Marble masons make millions

On man's mission to memorialize

With monstrous, meaningless, monuments

Meant to manufacture memories

By means of morbid maintenance

Once

A sailor I must once have been
My life spent tossed upon the sea
At ease amidst the rowdy din
Toil, sweat, and a heart set free

Intoxicating briny air
Mist lacing each breezy caress
All my senses fully aware
Of a time sweet, blue, and endless

On Dancing

When the music captures your will
And the beat courses through your veins
Your soul will have to get up and dance
For joy will not be restrained.

All miseries will come to an end
And pleasure cannot live without pain
In order to be truly cleansed
One first must be stained.

Questions

Do you follow the heavens?
Or does the tarot guide your will?
Perhaps you gaze into crystal,
Heart open to what's revealed.
Do you feel that destiny
Is our own we each create?
Will you travel half the way
To shake the hand of your fate?

Rome

Bees love honey
Man loves money
Goddess Earth
Gave man birth
And a home
Man built Rome
With the thought
He owned the plot
But man's a fool
Still in school
He must learn
Rome will burn

Shiloh

Last night I dreamt of standing in Shiloh
The waters around me swirling and white
The sky was dark with an electric glow
No sun, no moon, the darkness was daylight

Before my eyes our world became un-made
And God, Himself, reached out and turned the page
Revealing that which had underneath laid
Appointed before the start of this age

I had no fear of being swept away
For I stood upon rock, not melting clay

Starlit Pathway

Some say it's only a dream world
A playground built for just one
Observed by souls with wings unfurled
Whose leaden feet have forgotten to run

These critics of my free flying fancy
Are blind to the magic of air
And deem variance from routine too chancy
Preferring to be weighted by care

They know not the delight of adventure
Embarked upon in fullness of night
Relief from the sun's harsh disclosure
On a path lit by the stars' light

Three

This is beyond
Destiny and faith
Love will win

Horus and Isis
Will be with Osiris
Once again

i's and imagination
Magi adoration
Unites kin

Three Haiku

Glittering lost leaves
Sparkle down to golden ground
To warm winter's feet

Pale moon, enigma
Knowing all secrets of men
Silently she smiles

Sunlight bends the hours
Stretching the afternoon's dreams
Within its magic spell

The Tower

Fair forgotten lady
Keeping the faith
High up on the tower
Small flame of candle
Ever wakeful while you watch
Hope and heaven provide the power

The Truth Behind the Facts

I have no appreciation
For any incarceration
Aimed at rehabilitation
While causing dehumanization

Man's appointed establishment
Chosen to sit in judgment
Intended to rise above sentiment
Is borne of discontentment

Methods used to desensitize
Instead will only demoralize
While pushing us to rationalize
Away from truth we must realize

Justice is our premise to constitute
We assume the right to prosecute
Blindly our own souls we persecute
When we sin against Man and execute

Twist

You say what's right is "this"
Yet I believe in "that"
And so much truth you miss
Your ego's grown too fat

There is a twisted end
To this worn-out worldly tale
You'll see your pride has thinned
Standing at the gates of Hell

The Way

Remove your blinders
Walk with Dharma
Consider your deeds
Sleep with Kharma

Shed your possessions
Learn to let go
Release opinions
Let the truth flow

Care for each other
We exist as one
Defeat hate with love
War will be done

The path is open
For decision
Make loving-kindness
Your religion

We See

The snake, he wears a judge's robe
And lives within the mirror
That looks darkly through our minds
Seeing us far more clearer.
Than we see ourselves.

Though not good, neither evil
He adopts the name we give
When we're yet babes in our soul
Magic dreams by which we live.
Then we see ourselves.

Wisdom

I aspire to the Magdalene
Truth's sweet spirit of womankind
Rose from elect to righteous Queen
Her wisdom opens eyes once blind

The lies of thieves could not make stain
Upon the whiteness of her gown
With evil she has never lain
Her life is light, worn as a crown
